Top prize claimed on 88 Fortunes® game makes Christmas gift shopping a top priority
Thanks to a $50,000 scratch-off win, a Kent County husband can now start hunting for the perfect Christmas gifts for his wife.
The lucky winner found his $50,000 fortune with the 88 Fortunes® game. “About Time,” as he nicknamed himself for Lottery publicity, had stopped by his favorite Lottery retailer to grab some instant tickets and spotted the scratch-off. “I only play the Lottery once or twice a week and never win anything more than $10,” he told Lottery officials after claiming his prize. “It’s definitely about time I won on something.”
The 26-year-old welder never played this $5 game before. He purchased two of the 88 Fortunes® instant tickets and scratched them right in the store. “About Time” also scanned both tickets at the store and one revealed the big payout.
“I scanned it twice because I couldn’t believe it. I covered it up and rolled out,” the happy winner said. “Christmas gifts for my wife will be taken care of for sure.”
Meanwhile, Phillips Convenience Store located at 119 East Main Street in Sudlersville shares in the luck of the “About Time” winner. The Queen Anne’s County store earns a retailer bonus of $500 from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off in the game.
The 88 Fortunes® instant ticket went on sale Sept. 23. “About Time” found the second of six $50,000 top prizes in the game. Offering no prize less than $8, the 88 Fortunes game is packed with prizes, including nine for $5,000.
