Cash Word Scratch-off Nets Woman $20,000
A Chestertown woman had a feeling she was going to win the jackpot on her Cash Word scratch-off last Saturday. After playing the same ticket for several weeks, she hoped her dedication would finally pay off. Little did she know, the next Cash Word ticket she purchased actually was a $20,000 winner.
The woman scratched her ticket and saw that she had matched the word “homework,” on her ticket to the available letters. Seeing the match, the Chestertown woman knew she had finally won. “I told myself I was going to win $20,000,” said the mother of three. “This money is a true blessing.”
Anxious to share the good news, the woman called up her three grown children to let them know what had transpired. “At first my youngest son didn’t believe me. He asked if I was sure,” she said smiling. “I told him I was definitely sure that I had just won $20,000!”
The 71-year-old said the only person left to share the big news with is her husband, “I’m sure he’ll be excited once I tell him what I’ve won,” she told Lottery officials. “We’ll be able to put the money towards a few things we’ve needed for a while.”
The woman plans to share the money with her family, donate a portion to her church and take care of some bills. She purchased her winning ticket from Lewes Dairy at 840 High Street in Chestertown.
