Scratch-off fan wins $100,000 top prize on Neon X20 game
A 43-year-old Maryland Lottery scratch-off fan enjoyed a profitable lunch break last Friday when Lady Luck showed up just as he was scratching off a Neon x20 scratch-off. He won $100,000!
The Riverdale resident purchased three $10 scratch-offs that morning from the Riverdale Tiger Mart on the way to his job as a maintenance employee. He waited until his lunch break to play the games.
“I saw the matching number and knew right away I had won,” said the winner. “I was calm, but I broke out into a cold sweat.”
The lucky player put the winning scratch-off in his pocket and went back to work. When his day was over, he went home, hid the instant ticket in a book bag, and endured a restless weekend.
“I sure didn’t sleep much this weekend waiting for Monday to come,” he told Lottery officials. The Prince George’s County man didn’t want to claim his $100,000 prize alone so he arrived at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on Monday with his two sisters.
The unmarried father of two said he has no initial plans for his good fortune and will probably just save the prize.
Sharing in his Lottery-winning happiness is the retailer. The Riverdale Tiger Mart located at 6117 Baltimore Avenue in Riverdale will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize ticket in the game. The Neon x20 scratch-off still has two $100,000 prizes, one $20,000 prize and five $10,000 prizes remaining in the $10 game.
