Lady Luck Gives Wedding Gift to White Hall Woman

Bride-to-be wins $12,500 on quick-pick Keno ticket

A White Hall resident who is counting down the days to her spring wedding received a welcome gift from Lady Luck and Cupid. The bride-to-be won $12,500 on a 9-spot Keno ticket she bought on Valentine’s Day.

The lucky winner said she typically tries her luck at Keno during social gatherings at bars or restaurants. But on Valentine’s Day, as she was on her way to work, the 30-year-old stopped at Howard Street BP in Baltimore and bought a $9 quick-pick 9-spot ticket for three draws with the Super Bonus option.

“I don’t play often,” she said, “but I was feeling lucky and I had cash. I hardly ever carry cash.”

That afternoon, she stopped for gas on her way home from her job in social media and marketing. The Baltimore County resident scanned the ticket and couldn’t believe her eyes.

“Usually, I pick my own numbers,” she said, adding that the $12,500 prize far surpassed her previous $6 Keno prize record.

She shared her great news with her fiancé and her best friend, who accompanied her to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim the prize. The future bride plans to spend her winnings on her wedding.

Her lucky retailer also has reason to celebrate. For selling a winning Keno ticket of $10,000 or more, Howard Street BP located at 2207 North Howard Street in Baltimore earns a bonus of $125 from the Lottery. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.
