Wife claims top prize on favorite game
A lucky lady from Montgomery County enjoyed a visit from Lady Luck herself on Tuesday after buying a Maryland Lottery scratch-off with the same name. She won the $100,000 top prize on the Lady Luck scratch-off.
“We’re going to sleep well tonight,” the happy winner said after claiming her prize the next day at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. “Last night, we kept waking up hoping it was today because we were afraid the ticket would either be gone or it was all just a dream.”
A normal Tuesday afternoon became one of the best Tuesdays of this lucky lady’s life! The 45-year-old was at Wheaton Winery in Silver Spring when she spotted instant tickets by the register. With the idea of winning big, the player picked two different scratch-offs.
She rushed home to scratch off both instant tickets. As she walked through the door, she grabbed the games and started scratching. Lo and behold, her dream of a big win became a reality. The excitement on the couple’s faces when they figured out they were $100,000 winners was “priceless,” they said, and is something they will never forget!
“This could not have come at a better time for our family,” said the Silver Spring resident. “We could really use this money.”
She plans to put some of the prize toward long-awaited house renovations. The happy mom also will save some funds for her child for the future, and possibly buy another car. Joining in this victory is Wheaton Winery located at 2211 University Boulevard. Because the Montgomery County retailer sold a top-prize scratch-off in the game, the liquor store earns a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery.
Want to try your luck with Lady Luck? The $10 game is still packed with prizes. Players can look for three more $100,000 top prizes, six $10,000 prizes and thousands of others ranging from $10 to $1,000.
