Language Student Tongue-Tied by Lottery Luck

Wins $30,000 Playing Rack Up the Cash Instant Game

Rack up the CashA Baltimore man had plenty to say when he visited Lottery headquarters to claim a $30,000 scratch-off prize he won several weeks ago. The words came to him much easier, he told officials, than in the moments just after he scratched the Rack Up the Cash instant ticket that delivered his good fortune.

“I was in complete shock,” said the 25-year-old student. “I could barely speak. I showed the ticket to my aunt. Neither of us believed what we were seeing.” He purchased his winner at Dolfield Liquors in Baltimore after picking up his aunt from work and scratched the $3 ticket after arriving at home.

“When I realized the total dollar amount, the $30,000, I was stunned,” he said. “I was as happy as I’ve ever been.”

The lucky language student, who arrived in America three years ago, relies on money from home to pay his college tuition. His win makes it possible for him to pay for his own college education.

“My mother has worked so hard to help me stay in school to earn my master’s degree,” he said. “This takes the burden off of her. Now I can return her generosity.” He found his Rack Up the Cash scratch winner at Dolfield Liquors at 3590 Dolfield Avenue in Baltimore. There are three $30,000 top-prize tickets remaining in the stores.
