Last Minute Decision Yields $50,000 Bonus Match 5 Win

Edward Tothill - Bonus Match 5

Rockville resident, Edward Tothill, shows off $50,000 Bonus Match 5 win.

Rockville resident, Edward Tothill, can thank his wife Betty for their recent windfall of $50,000. On Friday, he gave her the money to play their daily midday Lottery numbers, but while at the store she purchased some Quick Pick evening numbers too.

“I figured I might as well get all the numbers,” said Betty. “And the Quick Pick was a second-thought.” It turns out that the random Bonus Match 5 ticket she purchased was the big winner. Betty was, and still is, in shock.

The 50-year-old said she was sitting at the kitchen table checking the numbers on the Lottery’s winning numbers line, when she realized that she had won. “I just started jumping and screaming,” she said. “I was wondering what was wrong, until I checked the ticket myself,” said Edward.

The couple, married for 27 years, high-fived and celebrated their win right there in the kitchen. The next day, they purchased a 2012 Ford pick up. “I sure hope that check clears on time,” said Bill. In addition to the car, the couple plans to pay some bills and save some for emergencies. The winning ticket was purchased at the 5-10 Quick Mart located at 1328 E Gude Drive in Rockville.
