Legal Eagle Wins an Unexpected $1 Million Top Prize

Baltimore resident making plans for future finds that hers is now Platinum-lined

Planning for the future can be difficult, but a Baltimore-based corporate attorney has been focused on that tall task for a long time. Whether she’s working or saving for retirement and her daughter’s college tuition, the legal eagle prides herself on preparing for any contingency. But the $1 million Maryland Lottery prize that came her way this week was nowhere on her radar.

The hefty prize came courtesy of a $1,000,000 Platinum Play scratch-off the Baltimore resident purchased near her office. The first $20 scratch-off she bought resulted in a small win, and later, after purchasing a few more of the tickets, the 62-year-old won a $1 million prize.

The win occurred at a time when the lucky lady said she has been considering new opportunities. Although putting her daughter though college and retiring comfortably are her biggest priorities, the lucky winner said her Lottery prize would allow her to entertain the idea of a non-profit career.

“I’d like to do some good in the world, and now perhaps I wouldn’t even need a salary,” said the winner, who purchased the ticket at the Royal Farms store located at 1119 West 41st Street in Baltimore. The retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the $1 million prize-winning scratch-off.

The $1,000,000 Platinum Play scratch-off launched in August of 2016 and two of its $1 million top prizes remain unclaimed. There are also three more $50,000 prizes, 17 $10,000 prizes and thousands of additional prizes ranging from $20 to $5,000.
