Back-to-Back Lottery Wins for Perry Hall Couple
Michael and Karen Holt could not believe they won it big, not once, but twice in one weekend! The couple, who have been playing the Lottery daily for the past 20 years together, had their first big win this past weekend. The couple’s luck began on Friday night when they hit the Pick 3, winning $500. The Perry Hall couple cashed in their winning ticket the next day and purchased a Powerball ticket hoping to keep their winning streak alive. The Holt’s luck had, in fact, not run out – they hit the $10K Powerball prize.
Michael, a newspaper delivery man, did not check the Powerball numbers until the next morning when he looked online. He was checking the numbers on one ticket when he noticed that his other ticket was a match. In shock after realizing he was $10,000 richer, Michael called his wife into the room.
“I can’t believe it. We always play the same numbers every week,” said Karen, Michael’s wife of nineteen years. The lucky numbers happen to be Karen’s birthday and the couple’s anniversary.
Michael’s first call was to his mother, Charlotte, and he told her, “If I am right, I just won $10,000.” Charlotte described that Michael kept his cool, while she was acting more excited then he was.
Michael and Karen will use their winnings to pay various bills. They also plan to treat Charlotte to a nice dinner at a favorite restaurant. The couple will be celebrating their 20-year anniversary in July and with their extra cash, may add something extra to their special occasion. The winning ticket was purchased at Mars, located at 8667 Belair Rd. in Baltimore.
