Long Wait in Line Leads Baltimore Man to Big Lottery Payday

“Money Bags” of Baltimore plans to buy and flip houses with his big win.

“Money Bags” claims $50,000 top prize on Bonus Match 5 game

They say patience is a virtue and one lucky Baltimore resident learned this summer that it can also be financially rewarding. The lucky man, who dubbed himself “Money Bags,” received his $50,000 reward in the form of a winning Bonus Match 5 ticket after visiting a Severna Park 7-Eleven.

Patience came into play because he was waiting in line to make a non-Lottery purchase. The person ahead of him, who was taking a long time to complete a purchase, happened to be buying Bonus Match 5 tickets. “Money Bags” thought that was a great idea! Finally, his turn to pay arrived and the 42-year-old bought six quick-pick tickets for the July 5 drawing. His reward came when he checked the winning numbers for the drawing.

“I was in absolute shock, I couldn’t believe it,” the lucky player said. This win comes as a shock for several reasons. Just last year, he was one number away from hitting a Multi-Match jackpot. Also, he rarely plays Lottery games and just happened to check some old tickets for prizes when he stumbled across this win.

“Money Bags,” who works as a professional landscaper, plans to use his winnings to buy and flip houses.

The retailer also wins. The 7-Eleven #20640 located at 162 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park received a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning ticket in the game.
