Longshot Racetrax Wager Yields Super Superfecta Box Win

City resident wins $12,913 purse with gifted Racetrax ticket

A former Baltimore City worker wasn’t sure what to make of his Racetrax ticket. He thought the $48 ticket, which was purchased as a gift by his son, was a longshot to win any prize but the lucky dad wound up in the Winner’s Circle with a $12,913.90 purse.

The 68-year-old had never played Racetrax, the Lottery’s virtual horse-racing game. His son is a Racetrax regular. “To be honest, I wanted the cash, but the ticket wound up being more valuable,” said the happy winner.

Father and son had stopped for gas at Dash In #1501 at 1712 Russell Street in Baltimore after visiting Horseshoe Casino. Players win with the Superfecta Box bet if their four horses finish in any order in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place. The son’s bet brought home a win on race #17 out of 20 races with horses 12, 11, 10 and 1 bringing home the big prize!

The duo didn’t watch their races live, opting to check results using the Keno/Racetrax smartphone app the following morning. Their surprise was overwhelming. Even his son, who has placed Superfecta wagers before, was astonished with the win.

“I’m happy for him, but next time it’s going to be me,” said the son.

The lucky winner said his unexpected windfall will pay a variety of bills, including portions of his mortgage and auto loans.

For selling a winning Racetrax ticket of at least $10,000, Dash In receives a $129.13 bonus from the Lottery – equal to 1 percent of the prize value.
