Lottery Connection at Baltimore Bar Leads to $16,044 Keno Touchdown

Baltimore man wins big with lucky 10-spot wager while watching sports

Last week, a Baltimore city man dusted off the same numbers he has used to play the Maryland Lottery’s popular Keno game for several years and scored a big win right from his bar stool. The lucky 70-year-old, who played a series of Keno games while watching sports, won four out of five games including one where he matched nine of his 10 lucky numbers for a $16,000 prize.

Although it looked easy, the feat was complex. The Keno fan’s long-shot wager amounted to a series of $3 bets over the course of five games, giving him several chances to win. Because he selected the game’s optional Super Bonus multiplier feature, the longtime player added a chance to multiply any winnings as well!

He placed his bets at Mahaffey’s Pub in Baltimore’s Canton neighborhood and his vision flicked back and forth from the big game to the numbers popping up on the Keno screen. After seeing a series of familiar numbers appear, the player focused exclusively on the Keno numbers appearing one by one on a small monitor above the bar.

After the first game, the player scanned the ticket to check for a win and was surprised to confirm a match of nine numbers on a 10-spot game. His prize of $4,000 ballooned to $16,000, due to a 4X multiplier from the Super Bonus feature. While relishing his largest Lottery win to date, the lucky player saw his numbers continue to win. He picked up an additional $44 on the four remaining games. His lucky numbers: 2, 5, 7, 8, 11, 26, 48, 51, 69 and 77.

To celebrate his big win, the loyal player plans to use part of his prize to take a vacation.

His pub is also in the money. For selling a winning Keno ticket of $10,000 or more, Mahaffey’s Pub located at 2706 Dillon Street earned a bonus of $160.44. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize. Congrats!
