Lottery Delivers $50,015 Birthday Gift to Windsor Mill Man

Claims top prize in Aug. 30 Bonus Match 5 drawing

A 61-year-old Baltimore County man’s favorite Maryland Lottery game gave him a $50,015 birthday gift in the Aug. 30 drawing, which came one day before his big celebration.

The Windsor Mill resident has played Bonus Match 5 for four years. The fan plays the game often, buying tickets every few days and often getting a win.

“I’ve won $400 and $600 here and there,” he said. “I was waiting to hit the jackpot!” His wait is over!

The winner bought his lucky quick-pick ticket at Weis Markets #229 in Windsor Mill. He was visiting his son when he checked the numbers on the Maryland Lottery’s website late in the evening after the Aug. 30 drawing. He saw his numbers match the winning numbers, one by one, and was shocked and happy – especially with his birthday only hours away.

“I told my wife, ‘God gave me a gift,’ ” he said, smiling, “and I know what I am going to do with this gift.”

The restaurateur plans to give the entire prize to his wife!

For selling the top-prize winning ticket, Weis Markets #229 located at 7005 Security Boulevard in Windsor Mill earned a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
