Lottery Luck Delivers a Reward to Baltimore County Man

Wins more than $19,000 playing Racetrax

A 43-year-old salesman and avid Racetrax player visited Lottery headquarters to collect $19,854 he won playing his favorite game — nearly the same amount he gave to a friend in need. When he first realized the dollar amount of his prize, the father of three could see karma at work, he told Lottery officials.

“I stopped at a gas station to get a Pick 4 ticket and decided to play a set of my favorite Racetrax numbers while I was there,” the Sparks resident said. “I checked the results with my Lottery app later in the day and was shocked. I had to keep noise down because I was at work, so I celebrated on the inside.”

The Baltimore County resident wins frequently playing his favorite game. “I really enjoy playing Racetrax, it’s exciting. I figure it’s a win if I collect enough to cover what I spend, which I always seem to do.” Including low-number horses in his wager is the secret to his success. Indeed, horses #1 and #2 were among those in the Superfecta wager that helped him win his $19,854 prize.

The loyal player shared the significance he found in the amount of his Racetrax win. “I’m lucky enough to be in a position to be able to help family and friends when they experience hard times,” he explained. “Just a few weeks ago, I gave a good friend almost this exact amount when he was in a real serious financial jam.”

The winner plans to invest a portion of his prize and save the rest until someone else in his life needs a helping hand.

Hunt Valley Exxon located at 11235 York Road in Cockeysville played an important role in this Racetrax story. For selling a winning ticket of $10,000 or more, the owners will receive a bonus from the Lottery of 1% of the prize – almost $200, in this case.
