Uncertain Future a Little Rosier after $30,000 Scratch Win
With her husband facing surgery in the coming weeks and no idea as to how long he’ll be out of work, Robin Teats of Essex told Lottery officials today that the $30,000 prize she’d just claimed took a lot of weight off the family’s collective shoulders. “This will buy us some time, keep the wolves at bay.”
Robin’s husband picked out the Stacked With Cash winning ticket since that game had been successful for them in the past. “He scratched it and started shaking like he was going into shock,” Robin reported. “He kept saying, ‘No way!’ ” Their minds instantly focused on the timing of this win. “This really couldn’t have come at a better time for our family.”
Robin, a state employee, plans to dedicate her winnings to paying current bills and those that will pop up while her husband is recovering from surgery. Their good fortune found them at the Royal Farms convenience store at 4015 Northpoint Boulevard in Baltimore. The Stacked With Cash scratch-off has one $30,000 winner still in stores.
