Claims $50,000 top prize on You Win scratch-off game
A Windsor Mill resident hit her lottery luck on a You Win scratch-off just in time for the arrival of her first baby.
The expectant mother was joined by one of her sisters and their mother as she claimed a $50,000 top prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
“It’s the perfect time,” the 19-year-old said.
Lottery luck came to call at a 7-Eleven in Baltimore when the lucky woman bought two scratch-off tickets to take home with her.
The mother-to-be was by herself when she scratched the winning ticket and couldn’t believe her luck when she saw it was the top prize. She immediately called her two sisters and her mother.
Her older sister, who accompanied the winner to claim her prize, said, “I didn’t believe it. I told her I needed to see the ticket!”
Her mother and her other sister had the same reactions to the news of her big lottery win: utter shock.
“I get it,” said our happy winner. “It’s hard to believe when you say that type of amount to someone.”
The Baltimore County resident hid the ticket at home in a safe for four days until she could claim her prize. She said she planned to put her Lottery winnings into savings and use it to get ready for the arrival of her baby, due in a few days. But she also said that first she was going to celebrate by taking her family to dinner.
Launched in November, the You Win scratch-off still has one $50,000 top prize and one $5,000 prize waiting for you to win!
Also a winner is the 7-Eleven located at 2701 North Rolling Road in Windsor Mill. For selling the winning ticket the store will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
