Lottery Win Lets Player Celebrate 31st Wedding Anniversary in Style

Claims $100,000 top prize on Blingo Bingo game

209-Blingo-Bingo-ITVM_P3-redA 58-year-old Baltimore woman could scarcely believe her luck when she finally realized she won the $100,000 top prize on the Maryland Lottery’s Blingo Bingo scratch-off.

She bought the $10 game at Edmondson Liquors in Baltimore city while waiting for the bus to take her to work. The lucky winner, who has worked as a cook supervisor for over eight years, said she initially thought she won $75. It was only after she decided to take a taxi home at the end of her workday that she realized the prize was much larger.

“I couldn’t believe it (the ticket) was saying that I had won $100,000 grand as I’m staring at it in the taxi,” she said. “It seemed like an eternity to get home.”

The excited city resident said her win comes at a very special time in her life. “My husband and I were just talking about how we were going to celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary coming up this April,” she said. “I’m not sure what we’re going to do but we certainly are excited about trying to figure it out.”

She is a loyal fan of the Lottery’s bingo scratch-offs because of their extended-play component. “I like them because it takes a little thought to figure out that you’ve won,” she said. “I love playing bingo anyway.”

In addition to spending the prize on their upcoming anniversary, the couple plans to renovate their home and install a new roof. “This is such a blessing because we were trying to figure out how we were going to replace the leaky roof and now we don’t have that worry anymore,” the winner said.

The Lottery retailer also benefits from her win. For selling the top-prize ticket, Edmondson Liquors located at 2000 Edmondson Avenue receives a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery.
