Lottery Win Provides Security for Social Security Employee

Claims $10,000 prize on $1 Million Fortune scratch-off

158-$1-Million-Fortune-ITVM_P1-AquaA Baltimore mom who discovered a $10,000 Maryland Lottery scratch-off prize in June was still excited about her win on Aug. 31, when she arrived at Lottery headquarters to claim her prize. Accompanied by her daughter, the 61-year-old remained as shocked about her win as the day she scratched off the lucky $1 Million Fortune instant ticket.

“I play several times a week,” said the U.S. Social Security Administration employee. “I’ve won several times over the years, even as much as $5,000.”

However, she always thought the $5,000 prize was the biggest one she’d ever find.

“When I saw the match that gave me the $10,000, I thought to myself that it couldn’t be real,” she said. Convinced her eyes were playing tricks on her, the loyal player set the $20 ticket aside. “I waited a bit and then looked again. It really was a winner!”

The New Sherwood Market at 6324 Sherwood Road in Baltimore sold her winning ticket. In 2014, the lucky store sold a $50,000 winning Biggest Taxes Paid Ever scratch-off to a Baltimore grandmother.

Our new winner plans to share her prize with her daughter and dedicate the remainder to some purchases she’s been considering. “It’s a relief to know that I’ll be able to do the things I need to do,” she said.

The $1 Million Fortune game launched in June 2014 and has one more $1 million top prize available, as well as two $50,000 winning tickets and eight $10,000 winning tickets.
