Enthusiast claims $50,000 top prize in Bonus Match 5 game
A Harford County woman, whose daily enjoyment of Maryland Lottery games began when they started in the 1970s, just racked up her fourth big win! She claimed the $50,000 top prize in the May 21 Bonus Match 5 drawing.
The Bel Air resident’s noteworthy wins include prizes of $2,600 and $2,700 playing Pick 4 in 2005, and a $1,896 Racetrax prize in 2012. At first, May 21 didn’t look like her lucky day. She missed both the Pick 3 and Pick 4 numbers by one digit.
“I bought two $6 Bonus Match 5 tickets that night, and I didn’t win anything on the one, but then I kept looking at the numbers on the other one and I said, ‘Am I seeing that right?’ ” she recalled. “I said to my son, ‘Tell me if I hit on this or didn’t I?’ ”
Our winner selected five of the nine rows of numbers on the ticket herself but the winning numbers appeared on one of the Quick Pick lines selected by the Lottery terminal.
The happy mom plans to use her prize money to catch up on bills and boost her savings. She purchased the winning ticket at Constant Friendship Exxon at 3424 Emmorton Road in Abingdon. The lucky retailer received a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
