Loyal Racetrax Player in Winner’s Circle to Celebrate $29,698 Prize

Howard County resident finds luck with quick-pick Superfecta wager

An Ellicott City woman was all smiles after winning $29,698 playing Racetrax on Saturday. She loves the popular game and couldn’t believe her lucky win.

The 49-year-old placed a $1 quick-pick Superfecta wager for 10 games while on a break from work as a cashier. She didn’t watch the horse races but, instead, took her ticket to the counter to let the scanner reveal the outcome of the 10 races. The message she saw blew her away.

“It said the amount I won and that it was too much to cash it there,” she said. “I just couldn’t believe it.”

The happy player won when her horses — 11, 9, 6 and 1 — crossed the finish line together for a Superfecta win. The wife and mother of two adult children didn’t immediately tell her husband about her Lottery luck and will surprise him with the news now that she claimed her prize. She did tell her son, who also enjoys playing Lottery games.

“He was so excited for me and for him,” she said, laughing. “He wants to go to Florida for spring break.”

The Howard County resident said she’ll use some of the winnings for her son and will also use some toward an already planned European vacation with her husband to celebrate their 29th wedding anniversary.

The lucky lady found her winning ticket at E-Z Convenience located at 8104 Loch Raven Boulevard in Towson. The Baltimore County Lottery retailer receives a $296.98 bonus from the Lottery for selling a winning ticket of $10,000 or more. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.
