A Keno sign caught Pamela’s eye while she and her daughter cooled their heels in a Queen Anne’s County restaurant. Not too long after that, the retired accountant was shouting and dancing. Her $30,030 Keno win at The Jetty Restaurant and Dock Bar certainly livened up the day.
“I play Keno three or four times a week and I always play the 9s,” Pamela told Maryland Lottery officials after claiming her prize in Baltimore. The 63-year-old first played a multiple-draw ticket with no success. “There were 9s there, just not enough.” Although she decided she had played enough for the day, she nonetheless kept an eye on the Keno monitor.
“There were no 9s for several games in a row,” she said. “I figured 9s were due so I bought one more 8-spot ticket.” After selecting 9, 19, 29, 39, 49, 59, 69 and 79, the Anne Arundel County resident sat back to watch the 10 games unfold.
“The 9s kept coming and coming,” Pamela said. “I counted seven, which, with the 3X bonus, meant a $1,500 win. Then, I saw that there was one more 9 among the winning numbers. $30,000!” Lots of celebrating with her daughter and the restaurant staff ensued. Throwing in a $30 win on one of her other games, Pamela’s Keno take for the day climbed to $30,030.
Home repairs, sharing the windfall with family members and celebrating her 20th wedding anniversary in style are among Pamela’s plans for her Keno prize. The folks at her lucky Lottery retailer, which is located at 201 Wells Cove Road in Grasonville, are also winners. The Jetty Restaurant and Dock Bar earns a $300 bonus from the Lottery for selling a winning Keno ticket of $10,000 or more. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.
