Dundalk 7-Eleven store sells top-prize-winning ticket
(Baltimore) – A lucky Baltimore woman and her husband capped off a recent day of shopping by purchasing a few Bonus Match 5 tickets. And a few days after that, the couple discovered that one of those tickets delivered a
$50,000 top prize.
The 47-year-old Baltimore woman’s husband had the tickets for the Aug. 15 drawing with him at work when he decided to visit a nearby retailer to check the results. To his surprise, the ticket scanner told him to head for Lottery headquarters to claim the prize. One of their Quick Pick tickets matched all five of the Bonus Match 5 numbers that were drawn on Aug. 15: 6, 14, 17, 29 and 39.
He immediately called his wife to give her the incredible news.
“The first thing I said when I got his call was not to joke with me like that,” she said with excitement. “When I realized he wasn’t joking, I still could not wrap my brain around the fact that we had just won big. I still can’t believe it now. I’m in total shock right now.”
The lucky couple has been married eight years and said they planned to use the prize money to pay off their credit card debt, and for airfare for a trip to Daytona Beach, Fla.
“Since my company has a place there, I figured this would be a great little getaway for us,” he said.
They bought their lucky ticket at the 7-Eleven store at 4000 North Point Boulevard in Dundalk, which will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery. Bonus Match 5 drawings are held seven nights a week. Players select five numbers from a range of 1 to 39. A Bonus Ball is drawn from the remaining 34 numbers and provides extra chances to win. Players win if they match three, four or five of the original five numbers. Players who match the Bonus Ball number need only match two, three or four of the original five numbers to win a prize.
