Baltimore woman claims top prize on Deluxe Cash Crossword
A lucky Baltimore woman who experienced the thrill of a $50,000 Lottery crossword scratch-off win is crediting her “lucky charm” of a cousin for helping her choose a winner. The 47-year-old won the top prize on the $5 Deluxe Cash Crossword scratch-off.
The woman with a knack for winning also has a way with children and has worked as a daycare provider for more than 20 years. The key to this momentous win, she explained, was definitely her cousin’s intuition. “She’s my lucky charm and points the tickets out to me,” she said.
Her journey to good fortune began when the two of them visited the Food Depot located at 2401 Belair Road in Baltimore. They each purchased a Deluxe Cash Crossword scratch-off.
Our winner returned home and waited until she had a quiet moment to scratch off her ticket. When she revealed six blue words on the $5 ticket, she knew she had won the game’s $50,000 top prize. The Maryland mom and her cousin celebrated and tucked the ticket away in a ziplock-style sandwich bag for safekeeping until they could claim the prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
The lucky winner plans to use her prize to pay bills and may take a trip to Miami. She also plans to share the windfall with her children and her ‘lucky charm’ cousin. “She’s never steered me wrong,” she said. “If I could put her on a key ring, I would.”
For selling the top prize $50,000 scratch-off, the Food Depot will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
