‘Lucky Lady’ From Ellicott City Captures Scratch-off Magic Again

This “Lucky Lady” from Ellicott City just won her second $10,000 scratch-off prize in three years.

Loyal Lottery player wins second $10,000 prize in three years

An Ellicott City resident who is well known to her family and co-workers for having an extra touch of Lottery luck enhanced that reputation once again this week by winning $10,000 on a Maximum Money scratch-off ticket.

This is the second time in three years that the “Lucky Lady” visited Maryland Lottery headquarters to claim a $10,000 scratch-off prize. And, earlier this year, she won three $500 scratch-off prizes during her birthday week.

“At work, we play in a group for Mega Millions and Powerball, and my co-workers told me I should start buying their scratch-offs too,” she said with a smile.

Her Maximum Money win came on the evening of May 22, when she stopped by Giant #2310 at 9200 Baltimore National Pike in Ellicott City to buy a ticket for that night’s Multi-Match drawing. While she was there, the 58-year-old decided to buy a $10 Maximum Money ticket. She discovered her win when she scratched the ticket in the store. Her husband discovered it when he received a text message from her a few minutes later.

“I was sitting in the kitchen and I got a text with an attachment,” he said. “I opened it up and started looking at it, and it was just unbelievable.”

The lucky winner, who works in the medical field, said she and her husband have planned and paid for a summer vacation in Ocean City. She added that the prize money will help make the vacation a memorable one, and some of the winnings will go into savings.

The Maximum Money ticket went on sale in April and seven of its $100,000 top prizes remain unclaimed, along with 30 more $10,000 prizes and thousands of additional prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
