A 63-year-old federal government worker from Landover was shocked to find out that she won a $50,000 Bonus Match 5 top prize this week.
The Prince George’s County resident found her good fortune at Ardwick Liquors in her hometown. She stopped there after work to buy Bonus Match 5 tickets for the Monday, July 30 drawing. Her lucky numbers did the trick!
“I usually check my tickets by watching the live drawing at night but, for some reason, I forgot to do so,” she said. On Tuesday, July 31, she remembered to check the winning numbers.
“As I started glancing over my ticket, I could not believe what I was seeing!” she said. “All the numbers I had picked matched the winning Bonus Match 5 numbers. I must have looked over my ticket at least a dozen times.”
The excited player decided her eyes were not playing tricks on her after she confirmed her big win at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
“I really have a blessed life because all of my bills are paid and I’m living pretty comfortably,” she said. “I just want to use this extra prize to help some of the people I love, like my daughter, and I suppose I’ll spruce up my kitchen a bit. This certainly is a blessing, especially coming at this stage in my life.”
Her lucky Lottery retailer is also a winner. For selling a top-prize ticket in the game, Ardwick Liquors located at 8307 Ardwick-Ardmore Road earns a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
