Beltsville resident wins second $10,000 scratch-off prize in five months
Rainy days and Maryland Lottery scratch-offs are a winning combination for a lucky landscaper, who just collected his second $10,000 prize in five months.
The 26-year-old Beltsville resident found Lottery luck along New Hampshire Avenue on another rainy day. He bought a $10 scratch-off both times but at different Lottery retailers. The bachelor’s first $10,000 prize came in December when rainy weather cancelled work for the day. He won on a Maximum Jackpot scratch-off that he purchased at White Oak Bowling at 11207 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring.
This time, his prize came from a 50x The Cash scratch-off sold by Langley Shop located at 8001 New Hampshire Avenue in Hyattsville.
He stopped at the store, bought the 50x the Cash instant ticket and started scratching it off in the store. “When I saw the first three numbers, I just left and went home,” he said. Those first three numbers on the top row matched the winning numbers and had a combined prize of $1,110. Once he was safely home, he finished revealing the numbers and discovered his $10,000 win.
“I was in shock to see it was the same amount I won before,” he said.
He plans to save the prize and invest some of the money.
The 50x the Cash game has plenty of prizes remaining. Players can look for four unclaimed $100,000 top prizes, seven $50,000 prizes and thousands of others ranging from $10 to $1,000. A member of the Lottery’s multiplier family of scratch-off games, the 50x The Cash game is joined by 5x The Cash, 10x The Cash, 20x The Cash and 100x The Cash scratch-offs.
