Lucky Laurel Lottery Player Wins Second Big Prize This Year

Claims $250,000 top prize on $250,000 Jackpot scratch-off

A 21-year-old Laurel resident is having a difficult time believing his luck. Earlier this year, he won a $50,000 scratch-off prize. Then, yesterday, he purchased one $250,000 Jackpot scratch-off from Long Branch Beer &Wine in Silver Spring and it gave him a $250,000 top-prize win.

“I bought only one ticket – the first one in the book – and scratched the ticket while I was still in the store,” the construction worker told Lottery officials. “When I saw I won, I quickly left the store and went home to tell my family.”

The lucky winner headed to Lottery headquarters to claim the prize, accompanied by the same family members as last time.

The Prince George’s County man has big plans for his $250,000 windfall. With this prize, he would like to purchase a house.

Long Branch Beer & Wine, located at 649 University Blvd. East in Silver Spring, also wins! For selling the top-prize winning scratch-off in the $10 game, the store will earn a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery.

The $250,000 Jackpot scratch-off still has one remaining top prize, along with numerous other prizes ranging from $10 to $10,000.
