Lucky Lottery Player Continues Five-Month Winning Streak

Claims $50,000 Top Prize on Monopoly Scratch-off

MonopolyTalk about a winning streak! Five months ago, Valerie Anderson of White Plains won $27,000 at the Dover Downs Casino. Only one week ago, she won $120 on a Maryland Lottery Monopoly scratch-off and she just visited Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim a $50,000 win on another Monopoly scratch-off.

Her latest round of good fortune arrived just before the 49-year-old began her workday. Valerie arrived at her job at Andrews Air Force Base early and bought four Monopoly scratch-offs. Her second $5 ticket contained the number 30, which she realized matched one of the four winning numbers on that ticket. Below the number 30 was the figure, $50,000.

“Am I looking at this ticket right?” she remembers thinking to herself. Deciding that she had indeed won $50,000, the elated but calm player phoned family members to share the news. Her two daughters congratulated her while her mother thought she was just kidding about the win.

Valerie works as a contract specialist at the base in Prince George’s County. The Charles County resident plans to spend her newest prize on a winter holiday cruise, paying off her new car and some other bills. She found her Lottery luck at Blue Wing Café located at 1500 West Perimeter Drive in Camp Springs.

The Monopoly game, which launched in January, has three $50,000 top-tier winning tickets remaining in Maryland stores and a second-chance contest to win $50,000.
