Bethesda man wins Crossword Multiplier top prize from instant ticket vending machine
A Maryland Lottery player has had a string of good luck this year. The Bethesda man came to Lottery Headquarters to claim his third $50,000 scratch-off prize in the past year: a Crossword Multiplier top prize. “This unbelievable luck just boggles my mind” said the player.
The 60-year-old man told Lottery officials that before purchasing the Crossword Multiplier, he researched the ticket on mdlottery.com and determined how many tickets he wanted to purchase. After buying his pre-determined amount of tickets from an instant ticket vending machine, he scratched one off and realized it was a winner with a 5X multiplier. “That really got my heart pumping…at first I thought I had just won $10,000” he said. But he did some basic math and his $10,000 win totaled $50,000 with the multiplier.
The carpenter plans to use his winnings to pay bills and will put the rest in the bank says. The winning ticket was purchased at Westlake Wine and Beer, located at 10442 Autopark Avenue in Bethesda.
