What a happy Friday! Teryle Allen of Baltimore brightened up the day for several Social Security Administration co-workers with her unexpected news – she had just scratched off a $10,000 win on a Maryland Lottery 10X Cash game!
The federal government employees can thank Teryle’s brother for making their day so exciting. The siblings work in the same building at 1500 Woodlawn Drive. While walking into work with her on Friday, he suggested she try her Lottery luck.
“We were walking past the Lottery kiosk at the office and he pointed out this specific ticket, 10x Cash,” Teryle said. The 45-year-old, who plays Lottery scratch-offs now and then, bought the ticket and took it to her office to enjoy during a break. The fun began as soon as she started scratching off the $10 ticket.
“I started with the top of the column and found two matches, each worth $1,000. I then scratched the bottom and then the middle – all $1,000 matches, a total of 10!” she said. “I could not believe it, $10,000!”
Teryle’s joy, constrained by the demands of office etiquette, was visible to her co-workers. “When I told them what had just happened they were very happy for me,” the working mom said. They gave her “lots of smiles and high fives.”
Several hours after her big moment, the mother of three claimed her prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. She had not yet decided how to spend her winnings but her busy family may help her with that! Her daughter has a big ballet recital coming up and her son, who plays for a travel basketball team, has an out-of-town tournament scheduled.
