Washington, D.C. man takes home top prize from June 5 drawing.
Vincente Weaver, a transportation driver from Washington, D.C., put the “pedal to the metal” and headed straight to Lottery Headquarters after learning he won a $50,000 Bonus Match 5 top prize.
On June 4, Vincente stopped by Penn Station Liquors at 5634 Silver Hill Rd. in District Heights to buy a quick snack. While there, he decided to purchase his Bonus Match 5 ticket. He played the same numbers for seven days, beginning with that evening’s drawing. On June 5, he matched all five of his numbers to win the game’s $50,000 top prize.
“I definitely feel like this game has been lucky for me,” Vincente said. “My strategy is to pay attention to past winning numbers, and then play those numbers.”
That strategy seems to have paid off. Prior to this win, the 38-year-old has won a few hundred dollars “here and there”.
The lucky winner has big plans for his winnings. In addition to saving some to use towards his kids’ college funds, he looks forward to splurging a little, and buying himself some new clothes.
“I haven’t bought any new clothes for myself in years because most of my money goes straight to my kids,” the excited winner told Lottery officials.
The Prince George’s County retailer who sold him the winning ticket wins, too! Penn Station Liquors will receive a $500 bonus for selling a $50,000 Bonus Match 5 top prize winning ticket.
