Manchester Man Claims $50,000 Top Prize
A Manchester man who played his lucky numbers for 20 years in hopes of winning the top prize in the Maryland Lottery’s Bonus Match 5 game is $50,000 richer today. On Aug. 7, his favorite numbers finally came through!
“The numbers are related to my job,” said the mechanic. “They are (the date) of when I first started my job, the age when I started and some other job-related numbers.”
The father of one adult daughter was hoping for the best, as always, when he bought his ticket for the Aug. 7 drawing from Hanover Liquors in Reisterstown. That night, the winner missed the drawing so he checked the winning numbers on the Maryland Lottery smartphone app.
“I recognized the numbers right away,” he said. “I dropped my phone out of excitement! It’s a good thing it didn’t break!”
After retrieving his phone, the Carroll County resident went over the numbers again and again to make sure he wasn’t seeing things. The happy winner plans to keep quiet about his Bonus Match 5 success and save his prize to enjoy later.
Happy to let everyone know it is a lucky Lottery retailer is Hanover Liquors located at 13819 Hanover Pike in Reisterstown. The store will receive a banner proclaiming its lucky status to hang inside or outside the store plus a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize ticket.
