Finds $50,000 win on $5 Ravens scratch-off game
A lucky Laurel accountant who works from home was counting big numbers of her own as she enjoyed a $50,000 win on the $5 Ravens scratch-off.
She doesn’t play scratch-offs that often and was on her way to her mother’s house when she found Lottery luck at the Rockville Service Center in Rockville. The Prince George’s County resident stopped for gas at the Lottery retailer located at 1900 Rockville Pike and spied the scratch-offs.
“My mom plays all the time, so I thought, I’ll try, too,” said the 40-year-old. She bought one Ravens instant ticket and left, planning to scratch it off at her mother’s home in Rockville. The novice player proceeded to scratch the instant ticket a little at a time until her mother jumped in. The scratch-off fan advised her daughter to scratch off the entire ticket and that’s when the lucky lady found the $50,000 prize.
“I just stared at the ticket and then gave it to my mother to check,” she said. “She’s my checker!”
She selected the game at random and is not a fan of either the Baltimore Ravens or Washington Redskins. “I don’t even watch football, but my husband is a huge Redskins fan,” she said. He was excited about the win but it won’t convert him into a Ravens fan, she said, smiling.
The mother of two small boys said the win comes at the right time. She plans to use the prize toward her Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations and put some of the windfall into savings.
The $5 Ravens scratch-off still has lots of winning tickets awaiting discovery.
