Lunch Errand Gives Monopoly Player a $10,000 Payday

Ronald Schoon of Baltimore found his $10,000 Monopoly scratch-off win during a lunch errand.

Popular scratch-off game delivers another mid-level prize

Lunchtime found a weary Ronald Schoon of Baltimore headed to a nearby 7-Eleven for an energizing cup of coffee. He left with a huge energy boost – he held a Maryland Lottery scratch-off loaded with loot!

The 44-year-old entered the store located at 1615 Thames Street, got his coffee and cashed in a few winning scratch-offs. The IT specialist and father of six selected several of the new $20 Monopoly instant tickets and scratched them as he sipped his cup of java.

“On my last ticket, I noticed that I had a winning one,” he said. “As I began to scratch the prize amounts on the ticket, I was shocked to see that I had won $10,000.”

Ronald said that although he would like to save a large portion of his prize, he plans to use the winnings to treat his children to a trip to Disney World.

The $20 Monopoly instant ticket made its debut almost a year ago and still has one $1,000,000 top prize remaining. The game also has one $50,000 prize and two $10,000 prizes along with thousands of others ranging from $20 to $5,000. The five-member Monopoly family of scratch-off games still has plenty of prizes remaining on the $1, $2, $5 and $10 instant tickets.
