Cecil County woman takes home the game’s top prize
A North East woman who loved playing bingo with her mom as a child discovered the game is just as fun when it appears in the form of a Maryland Lottery Magic Number Bingo scratch-off. The lucky lady wound up in the Winner’s Circle at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore claiming the game’s $50,000 top prize!
In fact, the bingo lover was feeling so lucky before even buying her winning scratch-off that she had planned a trip to Atlantic City for the weekend. The 52-year-old dropped by her local Stop & Go store, which is where she spotted the $5 Magic Number Bingo game, and decided to buy two instant tickets.
“I figured I’d scratch them when I got home to finish my packing,” said the Cecil County resident. “After I finished scratching one of the Magic Number Bingo tickets, I quickly realized that I was a big $50,000 winner. I must have looked at the ticket like 10 more times to make sure my eyes weren’t playing tricks on me.”
The happy woman nabbed one of three remaining $50,000 top prizes in the 2016 game, which still has five $10,000 prizes remaining and thousands of others ranging from $5 to $5,000.
“I had no idea that I’d win so much money,” she said. “This is shocking!”
The lucky winner plans to use her prize for a down payment on a house. “This money will definitely help me relocate,” she said.
Hoping she’ll still stop by to buy scratch-offs is her lucky Lottery retailer. Stop & Go located at 1 East Cecil Avenue in North East earns a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off in the game.
