Man Fills Tank, Then Pockets With $50,000 Scratch-off Prize

Fort Washington man finds second prize twice as nice

274-Diamond-Spectacular-ITVMLottery luck is even lovelier the second time around, according to a Diamond Spectacular scratch-off winner from Fort Washington who just claimed a $50,000 prize.

The 63-year-old retiree found his second big Lottery win after fueling his truck at St. Barnabas Gulf located at 6720 St. Barnabas Road in Oxon Hill. He filled the tank and bought a $20 Diamond Spectacular scratch-off. When he returned to his truck and scratched off the instant ticket, the Prince George’s County resident realized he would soon be filling his pockets as well.

The lucky player dashed back into the store and delivered a hefty tip to Ben, the retailer’s clerk, before hurrying home. He often purchases instant tickets at St. Barnabas Gulf and says that lucky Ben, while working at a different gas station, sold him his other winning scratch-off that delivered a large prize.

Savings accounts are the most likely destination for his windfall, he said, adding that the extra funds will give him extra peace of mind.
