Maryland Lottery Gives Holiday Riches to ‘Magic Moments’ Winners

Determination and sticking to a routine gave “Magic Moments” of Pasadena a November to
remember!

Pasadena pair win $50,000 top prize in Holiday Riches game

Consistency, determination and Lottery luck brought two happy Maryland Lottery scratch-off fans into the Winner’s Circle this week to claim their merry moola. The Pasadena players won a $50,000 top prize on the Holiday Riches scratch-off game.

The husband has his wife to thank for their magic scratch-off moment, which occurred because she sent him to 7-Eleven #26152 in Pasadena after work to buy scratch-offs. “I called my husband on his way home to pick up some Lottery tickets because I just had a feeling that we would win,” she said.

As soon as he arrived home, the husband and his wife – who dubbed themselves “Magic Moments” for their publicity photo – scratched off the instant tickets. They won several small amounts and returned to the store at 8930 Fort Smallwood Road to cash in the winning scratch-offs and purchase more instant tickets.

“Usually, if we win small amounts like $5 to $10, we just cash those in and purchase new ones and repeat the process until we either are losing money or win the big one!” the winners said. “The most we’ve ever won was $75, besides this win, of course.”

“Magic Moments” almost missed out on their holiday riches. They offered to let a young woman cut in front of them in line and she also had plans to buy scratch-offs. She insisted our winners go first. Returning home, they sat down and scratched off their newly purchased instant tickets. Their determination and decision to stick to their scratch-off routine paid off because they found the second $50,000 top prize in the $5 game.

“I told him to sign the back (of the scratch-off) and that we have to cash it tomorrow!” the wife said.

The happy couple plans to use the winnings toward home redecorating, renovations and to help some family members financially. Also enjoying their Holiday Riches win is the lucky Lottery retailer, which earns a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize scratch-off in the game.

Holiday Riches still has five unclaimed top-prize winning tickets remaining in stores along with thousands of other prizes ranging from $5 to $5,000. The game is one of five holiday scratch-offs launched by the Lottery in October.

All non-winning holiday scratch-offs are eligible for entry into the Holiday Cash & Dash second-chance promotion running through Jan. 16. Enter the promotion through My Lottery Rewards for your chance to win great prizes like a trip for two to a Chicago warehouse to load a shopping cart with as many items as possible in 90 seconds.
