UPDATE: Marylanders Head to Vegas for Chance at $1 Million

Price is Right Winners

The possible soon-to-be millionaires prepare for Las Vegas!

Six lottery winners could return as millionaires

What happens in Vegas doesn’t necessarily stay in Vegas, especially for some lucky Marylanders. Six Maryland Lottery second-chance winners have headed out west for what could be a life-changing journey.

Earlier this year, more than 286,000 The Price is Right non-winning scratch-off tickets were entered into the Maryland Lottery’s second-chance contest. From those hundreds of thousands of entries, six were randomly selected to receive a trip to Las Vegas to play the “$1 Million Las Vegas Game Show Experience.”

The winners hail from across the state. They are: Cynthia Thomas from Salisbury; Sheila Barnett from Baltimore; Karen Borchers from Monkton; Janella McRae from Rosedale; Dave Kale, Jr. from Columbia; and Ola Myers from Silver Spring. Each winner was accompanied by a guest of their choice. The prize includes:

  • Roundtrip airfare
  • A deluxe hotel room for three nights
  • $1,000 spending money
  • The chance to win up to $1 million

All six winners and their guests arrived at BWI Airport for their flight this morning, excitedly chattering about this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Among the potential millionaires were three sets of sisters; Janella McRae and her sister Chanelle McRae, Karen Borchers and her sister Debbie Kugelman, and Cynthia Thomas and her sister Laurie Gonce. Flying newbies Ola and Herman Myers were nervous about their first-ever plane ride. Finally, Dave Kale, Jr., the only man to win the trip, brought his girlfriend Denise Wilson on the trip. A smiling Wilson quipped, “Hopefully I’ll be Denise Kale by the time we’re back!”

Once in Las Vegas, all six winners will participate in the “$1 Million Las Vegas Game Show Experience,” playing condensed versions of games like Match Game™, Let’s Make a Deal™, Press Your Luck® and more.

UPDATE:

Six Maryland Lottery winners were the main attraction on a stage where Judy Garland has performed, Dean Martin’s roasts’ took place and Rocky IV was filmed. The winners all had one goal in mind and that was to win money on the $1 Million Las Vegas Game Show Experience.

The winners, who were randomly selected from The Price is Right second-chance contest were flown to Vegas on Tuesday, receiving VIP treatment as soon as their plane landed. They each received a personal driver waiting at the airport, one-on-one greetings as they arrived at the hotel, unexpected free meals during their stay and tickets to a show. In addition, the prize consisted of a three-night stay at the Monte Carlo, airfare for two and $1,000 spending money.

Once they arrived at the Game Show Experience on Wednesday, the lucky winners played condensed versions of well known game shows, winning the following prizes:

  • Sheila Barnett from Baltimore: $6,350
  • Janela McRAe from Baltimore: $4,350
  • Cynthia Thomas from Salisbury: $2,600
  • Karen Borchers from Monkton: $2,000
