Mega Millions Second-Tier Winner Finally Comes Forward

Rockville Man Claims $1 Million Prize from April

A self-employed Rockville man is $1 million richer after purchasing a winning second-tier Mega Millions ticket back in April. He says there was no rush to claim the money right away and that’s why he waited until now to claim the prize.

The 46-year-old winner describes a normal day back in April when he purchased the ticket at Greenway Liquors in Greenbelt. A fan of the jackpot games, he played a few quick pick tickets, pocketed them and went on about his day. A week later he checked the numbers and realized he won $1 million. “Don’t get me wrong, I was very excited,” he said. “I just felt no need to rush to cash the ticket.”

The very private winner said nothing much will change. He plans to save and invest the $1 million in winnings to secure his future and will continue to play the jackpot games.

Greenway Liquors is located at 115 Elmcroft Boulevard in Greenbelt. The retailer receives $2500 for selling the winning ticket.
