Wins $250,000 Second-tier Prize During Multi-State Game’s Recent Jackpot Run
A Hagerstown mother-of-two captured her share of the Mega cash prizes Mega Millions players were clamoring for in the game’s recent jackpot run. The 32-year-old plays the game only occasionally and won big on the ticket she purchased for the December 31st drawing. She was Maryland’s lone second-tier winner and rang in the New Year $250,000 richer.
She discovered she had won the prize while checking her numbers on Tuesday morning. “I was comparing numbers between the ticket and the computer and couldn’t believe it when the numbers matched,” she said. Her only previous win had been for $5, and her excitement quickly filled the house. “I yelled for my husband and let my children know.”
The lucky player has big plans for her winnings. She intends to use the prize to purchase a car and pay off her mortgage. She also has promised her children something special. “I told them that if I win we would get lobster,” she said. The winning ticket was purchased at Martin’s Food Market on North Pointe Dr. in Hagerstown.
