“Mrs. Maga Fortune” of Frederick County nabbed the second $2 million top prize on a popular $30 scratch-off!
Wins top prize on Maryland Lottery’s $30 scratch-off
Could a lucky Frederick County resident actually find a Maryland Lottery fortune twice? That was the incredulous thought floating through the Middletown woman’s mind as she stared back at the message displayed on a local Lottery retailer’s ticket checker.
The answer is yes! “Mrs. Maga Fortune,” as she dubbed herself, won a mammoth $2 million prize on the Lottery’s $2,000,000 Fortune scratch-off!
Her fateful purchase of the lucky instant ticket occurred during a routine lunch break. The 54-year-old purchased several instant tickets from the Middletown BP station in Frederick County and scratched them off in the store.
Although the size of this prize put her in uncharted territory, the winner said her first brush with Lottery luck gave her insight into what to do in the case of a big win. She won $100,000 a few years ago. This time, the veteran winner stowed her ticket in a safe place and then returned to work, quietly keeping her big win a secret until evening.
Later that night, the happy wife fetched the winning ticket from her safe and shared news of her good fortune with her husband. He responded with excited expletives, she said. Both are ecstatic over the win.
“The prize money takes a load off when it comes to bills and living expenses,” the winner said.
The lucky lady plans to save her prize. She decided to receive it in the form of an annuity. After federal and state taxes, the happy player will receive approximately $66,000 each year for the next 20 years.
Also celebrating is the lucky location that sold the top-prize instant ticket in the game. Middletown BP located at 211 E. Main Street in Middletown earned a $2,000 bonus from the Lottery. Congrats!
Our winner found the second of five $2 million top prizes on the Lottery’s $30 scratch-off. The $2,000,000 Fortune scratch-off still contains plenty of prizes, including three $2 million top prizes, seven $50,000 prizes and thousands of others ranging from $30 to $5,000.
