Montgomery County Cook Enjoys Sizzling Keno Prize

Quick-pick ticket delivers $10,000 win

A six-spot Keno ticket served up a $10,000 Sunday surprise for a Montgomery Village cook last weekend. Winning small amounts of cash here and there over the years on Keno games didn’t prepare the lucky man for the shock of winning a five-figure prize.

The 44-year-old told Maryland Lottery officials that Keno has always been his game of choice. After purchasing his tickets, the winner watched his Keno games play on the monitor at Lakeside Beer & Wine in Gaithersburg. He saw his first few numbers pop up, but it wasn’t until the end of the game that his last few appeared.

After seeing that he was a big winner, the India native told no one about his Lottery luck. “I kept quiet, didn’t tell anyone and left the store,” he said. When he claimed his prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, the lucky Montgomery County resident said he had no big plans for spending the prize. The winner intends to continue playing his favorite Lottery game.

This lucky ticket yields not one, but two lucky winners. For selling a winning Keno ticket of $10,000 or more, Lakeside Beer & Wine located at 9621 Lost Knife Rd. in Gaithersburg will receive a $100 bonus. This retailer is a new Lottery hot spot. Just last week, a $20,000 winning $100,000 Gold Rush scratch-off was claimed by an anonymous Gaithersburg man.
