Takes home $100,000 Super Triple 10s top prize
Longtime Maryland Lottery player Donnie Cole is no stranger to winning. In fact, he has visited Lottery headquarters so many times, he could probably make the drive with his eyes closed! His most recent win, a $100,000 top prize on the Super Triple 10s scratch-off, is his largest to date.
In 2012, the Brookeville resident won two $50,000 prizes. Since then, he has won multiple second-chance contests, including a $10,000 prize from last year’s Holiday Cash & Dash promotion.
Donnie purchased a few tickets yesterday at Olney Shell and took them home to scratch. After revealing the $100,000 prize, he got on the phone with his wife of 14 years. “When I called to tell Cheryl, she asked me how much I won,” said the 57-year-old, with a chuckle. “I told her it was a little better than average.”
The happy player reports that he looked at the ticket “100 times” to confirm it really was a winner. Donnie and his wife, who provide a home for rescued ferrets, have no plans yet for his new windfall. “I’ll be able to think clearer when the shock wears off,” he said.
Donnie found his luck at his favorite Lottery retailer, Olney Shell at 18040 Georgia Ave. in Olney. For selling the winning $100,000 ticket, the store will receive a $1,000 bonus. The Super Triple 10s game still has two $100,000 top prizes remaining, eight $10,000 prizes and thousands of others ranging from $10 to $1,000.
