Mother of Five Rings in the New Year with $50,000 Lottery Win

Claims top prize on Big Cash Multiplier scratch-off

Big Cash MultiplierA Severna Park mother of five wrapped up the holidays with a $50,000 winning Maryland Lottery scratch-off safely hidden in her nightstand.

The Anne Arundel County resident, who buys scratch-offs at small Lottery retailers she sees while out and about, had settled down to scratch a batch of the instant tickets when she discovered the winning Big Cash Multiplier. Her children, who range in age from 1 to 15, enjoy watching her scratch tickets and were gathered around. A family celebration ensued when the 33-year-old revealed the ticket’s big prize.

“We were so excited,” she said. “I couldn’t believe it. I turned it around to make sure it wasn’t a hoax ticket, one of those that say go to the tooth fairy to claim your prize.”

The lifelong Lottery player also enjoys playing Mega Millions and has won several small amounts on scratch-off tickets in the past.

The administration employee for a construction company plans to keep her windfall a secret and will pay bills with her winnings. For selling the top-prize scratch-off, the lucky retailer – Steak House Food Market at 5023 Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn – will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery. There is still one more $50,000 top-prize winning ticket remaining on the Big Cash Multiplier scratch-off.
