Carroll County woman claims second tier prize on Jackpot! scratch-off
Mother knows best, right? A Taneytown resident and her mother are sure to be in agreement with that statement after experiencing a $10,000 Maryland Lottery Jackpot! scratch-off win.
The Lottery players met, as usual, at the Weis Market at 630 Baltimore Boulevard in Westminster to buy a ticket and take it home to scratch. While the mom scratched, the daughter awaited the results. Unsure if the results made their ticket a winner, the duo took the scratch-off to a local store to check it. A store clerk scanned the lucky ticket and delivered the great news!
These winning women usually buy Lottery tickets once a week. However, on the day they found their fortune, they only bought one $10 Jackpot! scratch-off. This is their biggest and most exciting win, they said.
A bookkeeper for five years, our winner is also a grandmother. She plans to put the majority of her prize into the bank. The 62-year-old also plans to share some of the winnings with her family and enjoy a little extra cash on her Ocean City vacation next month.
The Jackpot! scratch-off is new, having gone on sale in Lottery retail stores on July 28. All six $100,000 top prizes and 19 $10,000 second-tier prizes remain on the ticket. In all, Jackpot! offers more than $11 million in prizes.
