Baltimore County resident wins big on Hit It Big game
An Edgemere woman had a memorable Mother’s Day after her children bought her a Maryland Lottery scratch-off worth big bucks. The mother of five won a $10,000 prize on the Hit It Big ticket.
“My kids usually just do something nice for me on Mother’s Day, but this time they said they were going to get a $20 scratch-off ticket,” she said. “I told them to get lower-priced ones so there would be more tickets to scratch, but they said they wanted me to have a $20 ticket. I took my time with it because I only had the one to scratch.”
She didn’t win anything in the number-matching game on the top portion of the ticket, which they bought at Food Lion #1315 located at 3261 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater. However, she won big on the dice-roll section, which includes seven pairs of dice. Players win the prize amount shown if any of their pairs of dice add up to 7 or 11. One of the pairs on her ticket showed a 4 and a 3, and that made her a $10,000 winner.
“I got down to the dice and I was counting on my fingers,” she said. “And then I started dancing and jumping. I did my $10,000 dance.”
The Baltimore County resident said she planned to “celebrate a little” with her prize and will donate to Hospice of the Chesapeake, which took care of two of her relatives who recently passed away.
The Hit It Big ticket launched in June 2015 and one of its $1 million top prizes is still waiting to be found at Maryland Lottery retailers across the state. There is also one remaining $50,000 prize, eight more $10,000 prizes and thousands of additional prizes ranging from $20 to $5,000.
