One of three top-prize winners this week on 10x Cash game

Ocean City Bike Week took an unexpected turn for a Somerset, Pa. woman, who was one of three lucky Maryland Lottery winners this week to claim a $10,000 top prize on the 10x Cash game. The popular $10 scratch-off still has 96 top prizes remaining, along with more than 500,000 prizes of $10 to $1,000.

Barbara George found her Lottery luck while celebrating with the bike week crowd. The 35-year-old mother of two and her husband Shayne were playing Keno with family members at the Purple Moose Saloon located on Ocean City’s Boardwalk. A few rounds of Keno later, Barbara decided to try her luck with a couple of 10x Cash scratch-offs. As she scratched off the second instant ticket, the lucky woman revealed one $1,000 prize after another. A huge celebration followed her discovery of the $10,000 top-prize win.

Manager of Dog Gone Grooming in Somerset, Barbara said she and her husband were enjoying a “Bike Week Honeymoon” when she found the lucky scratch-off. The newlyweds returned to the beach after tying the knot in June.

Her Lottery windfall will go toward paying household bills and maybe something for the children. Shayne Jr., the couple’s 18-month-old son, might be surprised with a big wheel tricycle!

The second 10x Cash top-prize winner was a lucky Baltimore man, who said he is taking his $10,000 top prize to the bank. The 42-year-old found his winning scratch-off after visiting 7-Eleven #33266 located at 8235 Perryhall Boulevard in White Marsh. The native of Kenya saw the Maryland Lottery logo inside the store, which inspired him to buy a scratch-off. The taxi driver chose his lucky scratch-off at random and discovered his win when he played the instant ticket at home.

A Maryland resident for the past eight years, the winner has won small amounts playing Lottery games in the past. He plans to keep driving his taxi and keep playing Lottery games!

The third winner of the week was Rosedale roofer Damein Merritt, who also won a $10,000 second-chance prize in August and is a finalist for another drawing to win Ravens season tickets for 20 years.
