Wins $10,000 top prize playing 10x Cash game
Joseph Harrison Jr. is a mechanic for a county school system Mondays through Fridays, a successful drag racer Saturdays and Sundays and, until recently, not a Maryland Lottery player. However, after years of watching his co-workers play and win during their lunch breaks, the novice player decided to join the fun and buy a scratch-off. He won, too – a $10,000 top prize!
“I was driving to work Tuesday morning and out of nowhere got a lucky feeling,” said the 30-year-old. Stopping at a 7-Eleven in Ellicott City, the Mt. Airy resident picked out the game he saw his friends playing: 10x Cash. He put the $10 scratch-off in his pocket and headed to the shop.
“When I scratched it later, I saw a $1,000 win right away,” said the married father of two. “It was amazing … a shock!” Every line of the ticket Joseph scratched revealed another $1,000 win. “I didn’t think it was real. How could it really be $10,000?”
No one believed Joseph when he shared his good news. His wife, his parents and his co-workers all expressed doubt. “I joke around a lot so they all thought I was making it up,” he said, “until I showed them the ticket.” He ranks this Lottery win right up there with the drag races he’s won all over the country.
Joseph and his wife will add their 10x Cash winnings to their growing house fund. The “middle man” in the deal was 7-Eleven #11725 at 9049 Frederick Road in Ellicott City. There are still 83 more unclaimed $10,000 top prizes in the 10x Cash game, along with thousands of other prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
