Claims top prize on Maximum Jackpot game
A Mt. Airy retiree who scratched off a $100,000 winning Maximum Jackpot instant ticket didn’t let any of his fellow convenience store shoppers even suspect he’d bagged a big prize.
Instead, the Carroll County resident calmly bought another cup of coffee at Mt. Airy Liberty plus a few more Maryland Lottery scratch-offs and started scratching them off, too. Winning big is a private matter for this anonymous Lottery enthusiast!
The loyal player found his top-prize win on the $10 game through sheer luck. He plays all types of scratch-offs and doesn’t stick to any particular price point. “I try them all,” he said. “I walked in that morning and that was the first ticket I bought.”
The 70-something scratch-off fan plans to put his prize in the bank. His lucky store is located at 502 E. Ridgeville Blvd. in Mt. Airy. For selling the top-prize scratch-off in the game, the Carroll County retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery.
Maximum Jackpot went on sale in May and still has four unclaimed $100,000 top prizes and 13 $10,000 prizes. There are also thousands of additional prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
