Name Something to Do While Waiting to Tee Off? Survey Says …Win $50,000!

Crisfield man claims top prize on Family Feud® scratch-off

A Somerset County golfer who couldn’t get on the greens wound up rolling in the green, thanks in part to a golf tournament that delayed his tee-off time.

Last Saturday, the golfer was geared up to play when he discovered a tournament pushed back his tee time. To pass the time, the 56-year-old went to a Dash In in Westover to purchase scratch-offs. He picked out two $5 games – Home Run Riches and Family Feud – and a $10 50x The Cash game that was suggested by the store owner.

“I don’t normally play the $10 games,” said the Crisfield resident. “But, I bought one any way.”

The married father of two adult children made his way back to the golf course with his purchases and parked. He then proceeded to scratch off the three games. All three were winners! Best of all, the Family Feud scratch-off delivered the game’s $50,000 top prize!

“I had to pull my glasses out to take a better look,” he said, chuckling. “I looked again and again.”

The secretive winner decided not to share his good news with anyone right away. Instead, he tucked the winning tickets in his golf bag and proceeded to play his round of golf.

Meanwhile, back at home, an upset wife was waiting.

“We had plans to go out for the evening and he was late,” she said. “But, when he came home and showed me that ticket, I cooled off.” The couple kept their plans and, prompted by his wife, the winner kept checking his pocket to make sure the $50,000 winning ticket was safe.

The next day, they shared the news with their children. The couple’s son came over to inspect the winning instant ticket in person. “My dad wanted me to scan it on my phone to make sure it was real,” said the 30-year-old son.

The happy marina mechanic said work obligations kept him from claiming the prize for a week. Accompanied by his wife and son, the scratch-off fan claimed the prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. He plans to use his winnings to pay off his home and purchase a new truck.

The lucky Somerset County retailer also wins! For selling a top-prize scratch-off in the game, the Dash In located at 8910 Crisfield Highway will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.

This is the second $50,000 top prize claimed in the Family Feud game, which also has an exciting second-chance contest. The game has eight more top prizes along with 12 $5,000 prizes and 27 $1,000 prizes. Players can enter non-winning Family Feud instant tickets into their My Lottery Rewards account for the chance to win cash prizes of $50,000 and $500. The first of three entry deadlines is June 5; for promotion details, visit here.
